OREN fucking TENNING has been my favorite Forbidden man right from the very beginning. And A PERFECT TEN is nothing short of a perfect story for the most perfect couple in this series IMHO. Synopsis: Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said. |
Linda Kage just delivered the perfect story. Seeing as how amazing the series has been going, I had no idea how she can get any better than she already is. But she has and it blew me away. A Perfect Ten packs the perfect (I should stop using the word perfect any day now) combination of drama, angst, sexiness, comedy, and romance. With interesting characters, a kick-ass storyline, and some seriously outstanding writing, Linda Kage definitely gives her readers the kind of book that they’d love to read over and over and over again. I mean, just look at me, I just flipped the last page and I’m itchin to read through my favorite scenes already!
Like I said, Ten has always been my favorite character out of the entire gang. Just like Caroline, I always fall for the badboy types and Oren Tenning has the word badboy written all over his hot, sarcastic, vulgar self. And if that doesn’t make me want to fall onto my knees and worship in the temple of Oren Tenning, I don’t know what will.
A Perfect Ten kind of picks up where With Every Heartbeat left off. I mean, the tension between Caroline and Ten has been off-the-charts and they aren’t even the main characters! And now we get to see where their sizzling chemistry would take these two spitfires. Linda Kage did not disappoint as she brought Caroline and Ten together in such an explosive way! I knew they’d get together eventually but MIDNIGHT VISITOR? That was hysterical!
Ten and Caroline’s story basically revolves not on the way they found each other but on how they managed to stay together despite of the odds against them. They have Ten’s manwhoring past to contend with, which was easier said than done given Caroline’s own track record when it comes to relationships. Let’s not forget Caroline’s, as Ten himself put it, “overprotective, homicidal, big brother” who just so happens to be Ten’s bestfriend. So yeah… not a pretty combination; readers would know that it’s going to get really messy when shit hits the fan.
From the previous books, we’ve always seen Ten as this rowdy, foul-mouthed, manwhore. In A Perfect Ten, Linda Kage writes about an almost completely different Ten than we’ve come to love. The best part about it is, what we learn about Ten in this book does not negate what we already know about him. In fact, all it did was make readers understand what circumstances led him to become the Ten we all know and love, which made him an even more loveable character than he already is. I adore how tender and sweet he is when it comes to Caroline. It’s always been there right from the start and it’s was a delight to see behind the pretenses that he erects just to hide his feelings for Caroline in order to save his friendship with Noel. As much of a douchebag we thing Ten is, he is nothing if not loyal… even loyal enough to keep himself away from the only woman who has ever had his heart just to respect his bestfriend’s wishes. But the heart wants what it wants and it was only a matter of time before something gave. It turns out, he can’t keep his hands off Caroline after all. It was painful to read Ten come to terms with his feelings and what he has done. Going behind Noel’s back to date Caroline goes against Ten’s loyal nature but even that is overpowered by addiction he has for Caroline.

Through it all, we see how both Ten and Caroline evolved. We see how they both mature… Ten in the way he really stepped up and changed his life around to prove to everyone, himself especially, that he is someone who is worthy of Caroline. We also see Caroline as she takes control of her life after everything she has been through. We see her come a long way from the meek, quiet, subdued girl that she was and into a strong independent young woman who knows how to make up her mind and won’t take no for an answer when it comes to things that matter.
Now that I’ve gotten everything out of my chest, I’m definitely recommending that you go get your copy of A Perfect Ten (purchase links below)! Trust me, you won’t regret it.
