*new adult romance*
**explicit scenes and language**
I don’t care what my cousin says; I am not the queen of impossible relationships. I mean, just because my last boyfriend tried to kill me and left a bit of a scar on my neck, then forced me to move across the country and legally change my name to Reese Randall to escape him, does not mean--
Oh, who am I kidding? For a freshman in college, I have to have the worst dating track record ever.
It’s no wonder love is the last thing on my mind when Mason Lowe enters my life. But the chemistry between us is like bam! Our connection defies logic. And he’s just so freaking hot. Being around him makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I even like bickering with him. He could be my soul mate...except for one teeny tiny glitch.
He's a gigolo.
Boy, do I know how to pick them.
REECE FINALLY FOUND HER SOULMATE. SHE JUST CAN'T AFFORD HIM.
Reese Randall moved away to escape a past that threatened to destroy her life. Her last boyfriend tried to kill her, forcing her to move across the country and change her name. The last thing she needed was a complication, a complication named Mason Lowe. He was hot as hell. Naturally, any girl would be attracted to a guy that looks even half as good as Mason Lowe. Reese cannot deny the inexplicable connection that she shares with this mysterious guy who unnerved the hell out of her but who can't seem to stand her.
When she applies for a babysitting job, the last thing she expected was to babysit Mason's younger sister. She balked at the prospect of taking care of a young girl with cerebral palsy but she couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend a little more time with Mason, to discover why he seems so moody all the time.
As they spent more and more time together, Reese finds that she enjoys his company more than she should. She'd love to be with him in every way but there's one little thing that stands in their way.
Mason Lowe is infamously known as a gigolo for the local country club. Reese heard the rumors at school but she chalked them up to be just that, rumors. Until she learns how true those rumors really are.
Could she ever get past his line of work enough to attempt to have a relationship with him?
PRICE OF A KISS truly was something new for me. Homicidal ex-boyfriends, not really. But gigolo's as the love interest? Now THAT was something that got me hooked right from the blurb. PRICE OF A KISS brought something new to the New Adult table, so to speak, and I loved every word of it. I would've given it a five but it still fell short in the emotional arena.
Don't get me wrong. PRICE OF A KISS was one hell of a ride. Reese, for obvious reasons, has her demons that she's desperate to run away from. She even left her life as she knew and create a new life for herself just to escape those demons. Reese doesn't tell Mason about her ex-boyfriend even as they are falling for each other. It definitely added another layer of tension to their otherwise already unconventional relationship. Mason, well, Mason has his own demons, as well. No matter how hard he tried to escape them, he can't seem to outrun them. His relationship with Reese depends on how he can let go of his past and seize his future with Reese.
PRICE OF A KISS was romantic without being overly sappy, there are also quite some funny moments, as well. It's everything I love about New Adult novels. It just lacked that extra oomph. What catapults a book into the five-star realm for me is its ability to blindside me and leaved me wrecked and destroyed after reading it. PRICE OF A KISS fell short of that, for me. Nonetheless, it was still a joy to read.
I'll give Linda Kage two thumbs up for the amazing story telling. She knows how to paint a picture with words and I loved every second I spent reading PRICE OF A KISS.
