If I had any fears about this book not living up to my expectations, they were all erased right from the start. Check out the blurb:
I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

I am so happy I got the chance to read FEAR OF FALLING by S.L. Jennings. It's the first book of hers that I've read and I absolutely fell in love with her. She's got an amazing way with words and it was evident with the way how FEAR OF FALLING was beautifully written.

Kami Duvall lived her life in constant fear. After spending her childhood in constant fear of the man who should have been the one protecting her, caring for her... loving her. She was brought up with the understanding that he did it all because he loved her. Now, 23 years old, she is still afraid. She's most afraid of that man, but the next thing she's most afraid of? Love.

Blaine Jacobs came crashing through the impenetrable walls she built around her heart. Well, she thought it was impenetrable. She just had not met Blaine Jacobs yet. Blaine melted her walls, he saw beyond Kami's pain and fears and saw the strength the lie beneath her facade. He's just what Kami needs to live again. But the question is, is she ready to face her deepest fears to take chance at love?

I don't know if Kami's Filipino heritage is the reason why I loved her as a character so much. Well, Filipino or not, she's a n amazing character. Another reason why I'm now a fan of S.L. Jennings' work is that she knows how to build a good foundation for her characters. She's got the backstory, the character building... all the necessary stuff for a memorable, substantial character. Kami is tortured and broken in all the ways a girl can be tortured and broken. But that does not detract from her at all, in fact, it gives her the depth that makes her pop out of the page.

Blaine, the badass good guy! Even though he seems so perfect for Kami, he's got his own demons to fight as well. But that doesn't keep him from wanting to fight Kami's demons for her. He tends to have a superman complex at times but don't they all? :)

S.L. Jennings was able to establish an addictive world that hooks readers from the very start. Not only are her main characters downright delicious, all the rest of the characters were lovable, as well. Yes, all of them, even crass CJ... I mean it! :)

I am hopeful that there's going to be additional books in this series. I still haven't had enough of Kami and Blaine but I'm also very curious about the others! With the amazing character development, I can't help but want to see more of Angel, Dom, and yes, even CJ! :)

Oh, and I loved the playlist, too.
