*Ebook provided by the author in exchange for an honest review* If you’ve been following my reviews, then you probably know how much I love bad boys. If you’re a new reader, then now you know. So, it’s really not that surprising that Anne Pfeffer’s GIRLS LOVE TRAVIS WALKER easily wormed its way into my heart. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars To nineteen-year-old high school dropout Travis Walker, women are like snowflakes--each one different, but beautiful in her own way. He can charm any girl he meets, and yet down deep he fears he'll always be a loser like his jailbird father. As the landlady threatens to evict him and his sick mother, Travis takes a job he hates and spends his evenings picking up girls at a nearby night spot. When he enlists in a teen program at the local fire station, he finds out he’s amazing at it. Then he meets the smoking hot Kat Summers, enlists Kat’s friend Zoey to help him woo her, and falls in love for the first time ever. But he keeps the details of his life secret. His girl will never love him back if she knows the truth about him…. *A big thanks to the author for the providing the ebook in exchange for an honest review* I am not Sci-Fi/Fantasy’s biggest fan but damn if I didn’t love Stella Telleria’s ACROSS THE WIRE. Now THIS is one book I didn’t expect to love this much. When I signed up to review the book, I was honestly just trying to broaden my reading repertoire. I did not expect to meet one of my favorite reads this year. It’s a promising start to what I feel would be an amazing series! Rating: 5 out of 5 stars! Synopsis: When Mia Mitchell, a hardcore but lonely former Marine, steps into an alley to pull some thugs off an unlucky foreigner, she walks into a fight she expects. What she doesn’t see coming is the foreigner making her a job offer any sane person would refuse. So, she takes it. She thinks she’s headed for some third-world country; instead she’s mysteriously transported to an Earth-like parallel world. That’s a mad left-hook. *Thank you to the author for providing the ebook in exchange for an honest review* Rating: 3 out of 5 stars If you’ve been following my blog and my reviews for a while then you should know by now that I am a big fan of New Adult Contemporary Romance Novels. When I got the chance to review Jennifer Snyder’s Break You, I was all for it. It fits right in with the kind of books that I usually read. As I was reading it though, I found that it didn’t appeal to me as much as I hoped it would. I was tempted to put it down a few times and mark it as DNF, but I was determined to see it through to the end. After all, it did start out with a really exciting premise but it kind of fell short in the middle. It only picked up again during the last fifth of the book and then, to my disappointment, fell on a flat ending. Synopsis: Blaire Hayes enjoys a quiet life, spending her days as a CNA at the local nursing home and nights studying for exams. She prefers things to be as uncomplicated as possible -- but when her friends drag her to a party and she bumps into her high school crush, the path of Blaire’s life veers in an entirely different direction than what she had planned for herself. *A big thanks to the author for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review* Before reading on, may I just say that RECLAIMING THE SAND has been a totally worthwhile and amazing read. Fair warning though: this is one of the longest reviews I’ve written. When I learned about A. Meredith Walters’ new book, I was over-the-moon excited to get my hands on it (and I’m really grateful to have been chosen as one of the lucky few to receive the ARC). And after reading the book, I’m rating it with 5 out of 5 stars. No brainer about that. RECLAIMING THE SAND evoked in me all the pain, turmoil, and angst like a book only A. Meredith Walters can write. Blurb: *THIS IS A STAND ALONE WITH NO CLIFFHANGER!* *A huge thanks to the author for providing the e-book in exchange for an honest review* As an Occupational-Therapist-in-the-making, books about people on the spectrum are particularly close to my heart (case in point, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon). Stim by Kevin Berry is no exception. An amazing 5 out of 5 stars for STIM. Synopsis: Robert is different. He has Asperger’s Syndrome. He experiences the world differently to 99% of the population. Follow his entertaining and highly empathetic story as he struggles to realise and accept who he really is, try to understand other people—which he cannot—and find a girlfriend. Especially find a girlfriend—he’s decided it’s his special project for the year. Accompanied on this transformative journey by his quirky flatmates, Chloe (who also has Asperger’s, amongst other things), Stef (who hasn’t, but doesn’t mind) and their oddly-named kitten, Robert endures a myriad of awkward moments in his quest to meet a nice, normal girl…and not even a major earthquake will stop him. *Thank you to the author for providing the ebook in exchange for an honest review. If you’re looking for a quick, fun read with just the right amount of drama and a whole lot of sexiness on the side, then don’t miss out on Jen McLaughlin’s BETWEEN US. It’s part of the three book novella series called SEX ON THE BEACH. Each novella is a standalone but all three books are set in the same world and are centered on the spring break escapades of three friends. My rating: 4 out of 5 stars Blurb: I’m just a girl… *A big thanks to the author for providing the ebook copy in exchange for an honest review* Jane Harvey-Berrick has a real penchant for tortured characters. Case in point: dangerous to know and love. And now, she got to me again with her new book: LIFERS. 5 out of 5 AMAZING stars for LIFERS! Check out the blurb: After eight years in prison, twenty-four year old Jordan Kane is the man everyone loves to hate. |
